Hey! Welcome! My name is Monica but my friends call me Mon. I am a wife, mother to 3 children, baker, photographer, lover of chocolate and partial to a good wine. I've done some pretty cool things in my life - I was once on a reality tv baking show. And I burned some biscuits just to show how amazing a baker I am. But there is more to me than that.
This blog started life as a blog about baking, family and the enjoyment of food back in 2008. I LOVE to bake and it was important for me to feed my family good food on a budget.
My love of photography has always been hanging around in the background, but photographing my food really brought out my desire to learn more and do more.

Here are some facts about me:
I was born in the UK, in a little seaside village called Bognor Regis.
I moved to New Zealand when I was two, then we moved back to the UK, then we came back again when I was 9. I've been in New Zealand ever since, and I consider myself a Kiwi.
I married the first man I fell in love with at the age of 19. We have been married 14 years this April.
I grew up in the suburb of Devonport in Auckland for most of my life. I made friendships there that are as strong as the strongest friendship bonds you can find. Then we all grew up and moved away.
My hubby, kids and I are privileged to live in the beautiful Bay of Plenty in the North Island nestled among avocado trees, kiwifruit orchards and a serene estuary with a few stray kittens and lots of bird life.

But life is NOT perfect. That would be too easy right?
At the beginning of 2010 I was diagnosed with invasive Lobular, Grade 3, HER 2+ breast cancer and my life changed forever. So I wrote about it. And I continue to do that, as well as feature my baking, photography and my ongoing life dealing with breast cancer.
Thanks so much for visiting - I love reading comments so please go ahead!
xx
